Skoda CitiJet Concept – created by students
What you see in the Skoda CitiJet Concept (above) is what you get if you let 16 Skoda design students loose and tell them to take the CitiGo and turn it in to their ideal concept car. The Skoda CitiJet – which will be joining the SEAT Ibiza Cupster and Audi A3 Clubsport at Worthersee – took six months to create and gets its roof removed as well as its back seats – where there are roll-over bars instead – a rear wing twin exhausts and 16″ alloys with red brake calipers lurking beneath. Under the bonnet sits the regular 1.0 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with 74 bhp you’ll find in the normal CitiGo, and the interior is lifter straight out of the CitiGo Sport so there’s red stitching to make everything look a bit more ‘sporty’, a leather steering wheel and Sport seats.
Mitsubishi has revealed more details on the plug-in hybrid electric Outlander ahead of a debut at the Paris Motor Show. Mitsubishi has been threatening a hybrid version of the Outlander for a few years (we had the PX-MiEV at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2009 and the PX-MiEV II at last year’s Tokyo Show), but the real production deal – the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – arrives at Paris. Now, with a public debut imminent, and full production and deliveries planned for 2013, Mitsubishi has revealed more details of their plug-in hybrid as they try to make their reputation for tough off-roaders and bonkers performance cars a bit more fluffy-bunny.

Porsche's next Cayenne and Panamera saloon will get petrol-electric hybrid engines, CAR Online can confirm, as the firm strives to reduce CO2 emissions. The sports car maker has gone on the attack, with tough new European Union guidelines on carbon emissions looming. Brussels has already announced it would like the average new car's emissions to total 130g/km of CO2 by 2012, and is now haggling with the industry about implementing the target.
